As Sticky Situation and Breck Trek head across the country we wanted you to get to know the artists a little better. Our very own in-house graphic designer Kal Urso created a unique piece for the show that he can’t wait for you to see. Before you make it out to the show, get to know him and see where the inspiration for his piece came from!
Where did your love for art start? How did you become an artist?
I really started to explore artwork in High School and once I was introduced to the Adobe creative suite (Illustrator / Photoshop) and its endless possibilities it really opened the door for me to create artwork digitally.
Where do you get your inspiration?
I draw a lot of my inspiration from my surroundings. I’m constantly taking pictures and taking notes of places that inspire me and come back to them when I’m ready to start creating a new piece.
If you could learn any new medium of art, what would it be and why?
I use to work with a lot of graphite in college and I would like to one day get back into the habit of making artwork with it.
How did you come up with the idea for you Breck Treck Sticky Situation Piece?
When coming up with my art piece for Breck Treck Sticky Situation I took inspiration from the Beer / Art culture that Breckenridge Brewery has created. I wanted to showcase their ties with music and the Denver culture along with the Colorado outdoors.
What’s your favorite Breck Brew beer?
What makes Ink Monstr unique from other print shops?
Ink Monstr is unique to me because of their endless creativity and ability to make amazing concepts become reality. From small stickers to three story exterior building wraps there is no limit to what they can do.
What do you like most about working with Ink Monstr?
Working with Ink Monstr has been amazing. It is rewarding to see my artwork go from the screen and then actually be produced and put in front of an audience.
