Damn! That’s pretty much all that there is to say about last weekend’s Sticky Situation Denver event. We couldn’t be more pleased by how last weekend turned out and thankful to each and every person who helped out and came out for the event, especially our sponsors Breckenridge Brewery and Green Man Cannabis. The night started off with Red Bull handing out free drinks, specially created for the event, to the first 500 people. With a drink in hand guests stepped out into Exdo Events center not even sure where to begin as there was so much to see.
Ink Monstr’s latest creation and vehicle wrap was Owner Reed Silberman’s RV covered in old school styled cartoons. The one of a kind design was created by in-house designer Josh Kitt. From Mo the Moose to DJ Sass-quatch these cartoons represent the Denver metro area in a cartoon world. After checking out this crazy new ride, with a TV and sound system hook-up on the outside you might have noticed the large digital Graffiti wall. With a clicker spray can you can make all your own creations, have them printed or post them to social media.
Of course there was the main event, the Sticker art show. Created with large format 3M vinyl we print, cut and apply large stackers to fake brick panels. With the worlds largest torch we bring the heat melting the vinyl and pressing it down to take form of the bricks. Backed in velvet black drapes each piece hung showcasing the amazing skills of the regions best artists. At the door each person was given a raffle ticket to vote for their favorite piece and be entered to win a free bike from The Urban Cyclists. With over 350 votes we found our top three pieces and Redman handed out checks to the winners. Mike Fudge’s big blue bear was the $1,000 first place winner. Michael Vacchiano took second place ($500) with his octopus head and Android Jones took 3rd place ($250) with his crazy digital portrait.
After voting for your favorite piece it was time to go check out the free swag. Green Man Cannabiswas handing out tons of branded goodies, while Steel & Lather was showing off their barbershop skills with free haircuts. Before The Urban Cyclists raffled off their 2 $500 gift cards to come in the shop and get fitted for a bike, they had some pretty sweet rides on display right next to the stage. Vans and Justin’s Peanut Butter donated large amounts of product to giveaway at the event, which Redman challenged the audience with some rap trivia to win!
Which brings us to one of the big highlights of the night, the performances. Starting off with local musician Sur Ellz, Red Bull Sound Select brought him in to show off his mad dance skills and bring a new sound to the table. He was a great opening for the headline performance of Royce da 5’9″. Coming in all the way from New York just for the event, Royce, of course, blew us all away with his performance.
We couldn’t have done all this with out the media support of Denver Westword and Ello.co. A special thanks to our sponsors Breck Brew and Green Man Cannabis who not only helped put on the show but showed up with some awesome products! We love a good Breck Brew beer and all of Green Man’s free swag was much appreciated! To all the vendors, Steel & Lather, Phunkshun Wear , Jägermeister, Urban Cyclists and Pizza Republica – who had some amazing wood burning pizza’s served in the parking lot, thank you for showing up and having some fun with us. And Finally to Vans, Justin’s and Urban Cyclists, thank you so much for donating some awesome products to giveaways and keep the energy high at the event. To all of you, we couldn’t have done Sticky Situation Denver 2016 without you!
If you missed out on this epic night of art and entertainment you’ll be sure to mark your calendar next year for Sticky Situation. It’s Ink Monstr’s favorite event to hold every year, and every year it just gets better and better. Until then you can enjoy a few moments captured from the event!
