Our long time friend and all time favorite chalk artist, Naomi Haverland, has jumped on the Breck Brew bandwagon for their Sticky Situation and Breck Trek tour across the U.S. Her work continues to blow us away and her latest piece is no different! Check out her work and the work of the other 7 Colorado artists on the Breck Trek and Sticky Situation U.S. tour this year. Until then, here’s a little insight into the artists head and where she get’s her inspiration.
1. Where did your love for art start? How did you become an artist?
I was born with a love for art. I think I became an artist by trying to act like one- doing art all the time
2. Where do you get your inspiration
Sometimes I don’t know where my inspiration comes from, but I suspect I accumulate it over time being exposed to other artists and beautiful people. I can’t be certain that I wont one day run out of inspiration. I feel thankful and lucky each time inspiration hits. I never take it for granted.
3. If you could learn any new medium of art, what would it be and why?
I think it would be really cool to know how to play the harmonica or the guitar or both at the same time. I envy people that can spontaneously create music that will instantly change the atmosphere of a room, and I’d love to be able to be that person. I am not ready to over come the learning curve it would require, though.
4. How did you come up with the idea for you Breck Treck Sticky Situation Piece?
I met my model on a reddit thread where people can upload their photos for artists to draw. I really liked this man’s face- how expressive it was. So I asked him to send me some photos of himself smiling/looking amused. The photos he sent me were amazing, so I painted one and added the beer hat because I thought he had a fun mad scientist look to him and I wanted to incorporate the BreckBrew theme.
5. What’s your favorite Breck Brew beer?
My favorite Breck Brew beer is any one someone gives me at a party.
6. What makes Ink Monstr unique from other print shops?
Ink Monstr is unique from other print shops because of it’s relationship with artists. They work together with artists to create awesome events that mutually benefit the artist and the print shop. Like Reed always says: “team work makes the dream work!”
7. What do you like most about working with Ink Monstr?
I like networking with Ink Monstr because through them I’ve met a lot of other amazing and inspirational artists. Also, the people at Ink Monstr are always really nice to me. They compliment my artwork and make me feel good about myself.
8. Where can we find you?
