You’ve got your design ready for print after months of planning, changing and perfecting. We’ve sent you test prints to ensure that the colors are exactly what you want and now everything is ready for the final step, the install. But before we can actually install your wrap there are a few things left for you to do in the install prep process.
Vehicle Wrap Install Prep
In all the wraps, the first and most important install prep step is to have a dry, clean surface so that the vinyl will adhere and last for years to come. We ask that you get your vehicle cleaned 1 week before the install to ensure that most of the dirt is off your car and that it has time to dry out. Cars have a lot of small crevices where water likes to hide and drip out later. It’s because of that, that we want to make sure your car is completely dry and ready to be wrapped when our installers arrive.
Flat Wraps (Wall and Windows) Install Prep
Walls, floors and windows are a bit different than a vehicle wrap but have the same basic needs. You’ll want the surface to be clean and dry. Wiping down the walls a few days before the install with a damp rag will ensure that any dust or dirt is off the wall, and give it plenty of time to be dry. Some people will sand down their walls before doing an install to ensure that the texture behind the wrap is gone. (Note: Any texture on your wall will show through on the vinyl, if this isn’t a look you like you will want to sand your surface) You are more than welcome to do this, just make sure to wipe down the wall once you are done. A lot of small paint particles will be left on the wall making it harder for the vinyl to adhere. Finally, a lot of businesses will paint their walls before a wrap, especially if they are only doing wall decals. Make sure that the paint has at least a week to dry before scheduling an install. The vinyl will be able to stick to a freshly painted wall as soon as it dries, however if you decide to remove the decals down the road it will remove the paint with it. By waiting a week for the paint to dry, you will keep your paint intact if you ever decide to remove the wrap. It all comes back down to the basics of wraps, keep your surface clean and dry and your wrap will have a much longer life.
Floors Install Prep
Prepping your floors is just like prepping your windows or walls with one difference. Floors needs to be really clean. Making sure they are swept right before an install, and cleaned 2 days before will help remove any crumbs, dirt or dust. Floors have their own challenge when it comes to an install because they are on the ground. Ensuring that your floors are clean (and dry) when the installers arrive will save time and keep your wrap looking it’s best!
When it comes to your wraps, we want them to last as long as possible. Prepping your surface is a great way to ensure that the wrap will be it’s highest quality and that everything looks good in the end.
